In 2025, my husband finally agreed to get chickens. I spent most of the spring getting the yard prepped, building a coop, and cleaning up our space.

around mid-summer we got our first egg, and that was the beginning of a new way of life for us.

If you haven’t gathered the overarching theme here yet, it’s that I have a passion for homesteading and we’re just getting started. However, I’ve also recognized that not everyone cares about it like i do – and that it doesn’t have to be center stage of everything i talk about online.

So, part of what you’ll find on appalachian grasshopper will be about homesteading, homemaking, and sustainability. However, I promise not to overwhelm the blog with only homesteading content. I want to mix in a good variety of business, homesteading, and creative.
